We kicked off 2023 with an adventure to South Lake Tahoe, bringing along our spoiled pups, Kaya and Alfie. Although our plans were set in motion a month prior, we learned that the bomb cyclone 'Pineapple Express' was set to make its debut that very weekend. Keeping a close eye on weather reports, we ensured we were well-prepared for any potential challenges. Fortunately, upon reaching Lake Tahoe, we were greeted by a full day of warm, sunny weather.


This marked Kaya's second encounter with snow and Alfie's inaugural experience. Uncertain about how Alfie, with his shorter hair, would handle the cold, he surprised us by diving headfirst into every snow pile he discovered. The beauty of living in California is our easy access to diverse landscapes—snow, beach, desert, or forests—all within hours of the Bay Area, providing endless adventures for us and our furry companions.
